Home / Hardscaping Installation
Oklahoma clay has a way of sinking patios and tipping retaining walls. Backyard Depot builds yours to stay put. We handle residential hardscape installation across Tulsa County and bring the same standards to homes in Creek, Rogers, Nowata, and Muskogee counties.
Every backyard hardscape installation we build starts with how you'll use the space.
Paver and natural stone patios sized for your table, grill, and guests. We help you choose a shape, pattern, and color that fit your home.
Firm footing from the back door to the gate, garden, or pond. A defined path ends muddy shortcuts and guides guests where you want them.
Walls that hold back sloped ground and stop washouts after heavy rain. The right wall turns a hillside into level space for a patio, garden bed, or play area.
A fire pit on a solid stone pad gives your family a place to gather on cool fall nights. We position it with room for chairs and an easy path from the patio.
Clean stone lines between beds and lawn keep mulch in place and make mowing easier. Edging also frames plantings from our landscape design and installation work.
Oklahoma’s expansive clay swells after heavy rain, shrinks during summer droughts, and heaves through freeze-thaw cycles. That movement is why so many patios sink and walls lean. We build for it:

Backyard Depot started as a pond company, so water shapes how we plan custom hardscape construction. We set patios where you can see and hear your water feature. Flagstone edges hide the pond liner, and careful grading keeps runoff out of the water. Our pond construction team can add a new pond to the same project.
Our hardscape construction services follow four simple steps.

Owner Keith Smith personally oversees each project, and Backyard Depot brings over 20 years of building in Oklahoma backyards. We're licensed, insured, and BBB Accredited with an A+ rating. Every one of our hardscape installation services comes with our one-year warranty.
A custom hardscape installation gives your family level ground for the table, a dry path, and a warm spot by the fire. That’s outdoor space you’ll use for years.

Price depends on size, material, excavation, removing any old slab, and walls or steps on a slope. Equipment access and add-ons like lighting matter too. Flagstone and natural stone usually cost more per square foot than concrete pavers.
Pavers flex with moving clay, and we can lift and reset them if the ground shifts. Flagstone gives a natural look that suits pond and boulder work. Stamped concrete often costs less up front but can crack as clay moves.
Inside Tulsa city limits, walls up to 4 feet need a Zoning Clearance Permit. Taller walls need a Building Permit and an engineer-sealed design. Other cities set their own rules, so we check yours during the walkthrough.
Most patios and walkways take one to two weeks on site, depending on size and weather. Fall and spring are prime building seasons, though heavy rain can pause digging in clay.
Yes. We tear out the old work, rebuild the base and reuse any stone that’s still sound. Swapping a timber wall for stone or segmental block ends the cycle of rot and rebuilding.
We locate sprinkler lines before digging and plan equipment routes to limit lawn wear. If the layout crosses a sprinkler zone, we cap or reroute those heads so your system still covers the yard.
